About

Dr. Ian Harris graduated with honors from Southern California University of Health Sciences in 2000. As a second-generation chiropractor he has observed and experienced the tremendous benefits of chiropractic first hand and encourages everyone out there living with “aches and pains” to visit his clinic to determine if chiropractic holds the key to improving their quality of life.

Chiropractic Education

A Bachelor's degree or equivalent is a prerequisite for entry into Chiropractic College. It takes a further four years to graduate as a Doctor of Chiropractic. At chiropractic college the students undergo a minimum of four academic years of professional resident study, including clinical experience under strict supervision.

During the first 2 years of study, most chiropractic programs emphasize classroom and laboratory work in basic science subjects such as anatomy, physiology, public health, microbiology, pathology, and biochemistry. The last 2 years of study stress courses in chiropractic adjustments, and provide clinical experience in physical and laboratory diagnosis, neurology, orthopedics, geriatrics, and nutrition.

Along with graduation from the Chiropractic College a license to practice chiropractic in their state of choice requires students to complete Parts I, II, III and Physiotherapy examination as offered by the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners (NBCE). Additionally, many states also require that students pass the Part IV Practical Examination offered by the NBCE as is required in California.

Continuing Education is compulsory for chiropractic yearly license renewal. Each state is different in their requirements and a wide variety of continuing education seminars for license renewal credit or greater proficiency in a specific area such as radiography, diversified technique, sports, or rehab. are offered.
